The Vice President of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom), Mohamed Fazeen stepped down on Tuesday amid a Parliamentary probe into sexual harassment allegations against him.
The Parliamentary Independent Institutions Committee has reportedly been investigating allegations against Fazeen of sexually harassing a female employee. However, due to the sensitive nature of the case the committee meetings have been held behind closed doors.
In his resignation letter to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Fazeen insisted on his innocence, pointing out that no evidence had been presented against him.
Fazeen, a seasoned journalist, was appointed to Broadcom in 2021.
