Second sitting of the term adjourned without explanation after late‑night notice

The second sitting of the People’s Majlis, initially scheduled for Monday, has been postponed to Tuesday without any explanation.
The new parliamentary term opened on Thursday, during which Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah delivered the Presidential Statement and announced that the next sitting would be held on Monday at 09:00 hours.
A member of parliament told Sun that the Secretariat notified MPs at 16:50 on Saturday that the sitting would proceed as planned. However, at 23:12 the same night, MPs were informed that the sitting had been moved to Tuesday, with no reason provided for the change.
Some MPs are currently travelling to the atolls to campaign ahead of the upcoming local council elections.
