Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has emphasised that national development should be the top priority in any profession, regardless of one’s field of higher education.
He made the remarks while speaking at a Maldives National University (MNU) graduation ceremony.
In his address, the minister noted that the Maldives is progressing economically, socially, and technologically. He said this growth is supported by the culture, principles, and the freedom of its people. He noted that graduating students have a significant role to play in bringing about such progress, adding that the country needs capable and educated people to serve it.
The minister urged students and graduates to contribute to national development and to use their education to benefit society. He advised them to take responsibility in their respective professions, and encouraged them to be role models and take leadership in development efforts.
