President discusses key development priorities with Funadhoo Island Council, WDC, and institutional heads

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Sh. Funadhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s key development priorities. The meeting took place at the Secretariat of the North Miladhunmadulu Atoll Council.
During the meeting, Council members briefed the President on the island’s most pressing development needs. They appealed for the implementation of a housing scheme under the Administration’s decentralisation and population consolidation policies, as well as the adoption of the Council’s regulations for issuing land to eligible recipients. Members of the Women’s Development Committee requested dedicated facilities for futsal, handball, and volleyball, along with the development of a beach area designed for senior citizens.
Representatives from the island’s hospital called for upgrades to healthcare services and the introduction of specialist care, while school officials highlighted the shortage of administrative space.
Participants also emphasised the urgent need to address challenges affecting electricity and sewerage services.
President Dr Muizzu assured attendees that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns. He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who also provided updates on ongoing development projects.
