Kela Council Sports Fiesta: Hoarafushi Wins Volleyball Tournament Championship

Hoara United from Hoarafushi has won the championship of the volleyball tournament held as part of the “Kela Council Sports Fiesta 2025,” organized by the HA. Kela Council and currently underway in the island. Hoara United secured the championship in the final match played yesterday afternoon, defeating Saabba Ekkuveri Club from HDh. In the thrilling final match, Hoara United took the first set 25-20. The second set saw heightened competition, leading to a tense period where spectators held their breath. However, Hoara United also claimed this set, winning the second set 29-27. The team won the final set of the match 25-19. The Best Player of the final match was selected as Ali Aslam, Jersey Number 14, from Hoara United. Top Six Players of the Tournament: Ibrahim Ali, Jersey Number 7, Hoara United Ali Aslam, Jersey Number 14, Hoara United Hussain Saeed, Jersey Number 5, Hoara United Suaib Abdul Latheef, Jersey Number 2, Saabba Ekkuveri Club Abdulla Mohamed, Jersey Number 20, Saabba Ekkuveri Club Muavviz Abdulla, Jersey Number 10, Kela Police Ali Khalid, Jersey Number 10 from Saabba Ekkuveri Club, was selected as the Best Libero of the tournament, while Naisam Adam Saeed, Jersey Number 77 from Saabba, was chosen as the Most Promising Player of the tournament. The Best Coach of the tournament was selected as Sinah Saeed from Hoara United. The title of King of the Tournament was awarded to Ibrahim Ali, Jersey Number 7, from Hoara United. Saabba Ekkuveri Club was named the Fair Play Team. The match was graced by the Vice President of the Volleyball Association, Aida Abdul Hakeem. The ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament for Hoarafushi constituency, Ali Moosa, the President of Kela Council, Abdulla Infaaz, the President of Hoarafushi Council, Mohamed Waheed (Wadde), and councilors from several islands. In the Hand Ball tournament of this fiesta, Kela Police Team won the championship by defeating Kela Sheikh Ibrahim School 12-5 in the final. Furthermore, in the Futsal final, Usgandu Sports won the championship by defeating Club Raven 6-1.
