Police officers who played key roles in investigating and solving major criminal cases over the past five years have been honoured at a ceremony held at Iskandharu Barracks.
A total of 117 personnel involved in major cases investigated by the Central Investigation Command (CIC) over the past five years received commemorative plaques and certificates. The recipients included officers who are currently serving in other police departments.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed praised the officers’ dedication, investigative skills, and commitment to their work. He highlighted the importance of teamwork and attention to detail in successfully completing criminal investigations. He said investigating officers play a vital role in ensuring justice, maintaining community safety, and strengthening public confidence in the police service.
The ceremony recognised the CIC’s contributions to criminal investigations and law enforcement. The Commissioner stated that officers providing outstanding service in other fields would also be recognised in future.
The event was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Faruhaadh Fikuree, and other executive police officers.
Meanwhile, two officers from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has represented the Maldives at the INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge / Cyber Games.
The event, organised by INTERPOL, took place in Marrakech from 19 to 21 May, bringing together law enforcement personnel from different countries to develop practical skills for combating cybercrime and online fraud.
According to MPS, the training covered joint operations against fraud networks, use of intelligence in investigations, evidence management, suspect interviewing and interrogation techniques, and procedures for obtaining international legal assistance in criminal investigations.
MPS said participation in international programmes such as the Cyber Games helps improve officers’ technical expertise and facilitates information exchange with foreign experts. The experience is expected to strengthen the police service’s capacity to investigate cybercrime and fraud cases.
