President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following a fatal bus accident in western Türkiye that claimed eight lives and left several others injured.
In a message addressed to President Erdoğan, President Muizzu expressed profound sadness over the tragedy, which occurred earlier on Monday when a passenger bus crashed and subsequently caught fire.
The accident resulted in the deaths of eight people, while many others sustained injuries and were taken for medical treatment.
On behalf of the government and people of the Maldives, President Muizzu extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the government and people of Türkiye.
He said the thoughts and prayers of the Maldivian people were with the bereaved families during this difficult time and wished them strength and patience as they mourned their loss.
President Muizzu also expressed his hopes for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
