Home Minister inaugurates “Dhaarul Eemaan” the first waqf building of Maldives.

Home Minister Azleen Ahmed has inaugurated the “Dhaarul Eemaan” the first waqf building of Maldives. The inauguration ceremony was held in front of the building in Majeedhee Magu.
The 10-story building is in Majeedhee Magu opposite Youth Center.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister said that it was a very historic moment. “ Mosques signifies the Islamic culture of a country. Waqf building ensures that the state will receive money to finance mosques in a sustainable manner. Hence this is a very important work for the country” said Azleen.
Azleen said that in some countries it is not possible to hear the call for prayer and also Qibla has to be found by using a compass. He said that however, no such problems are there in Maldives. “ You can hear the call for prayer in all islands. You can see mosques. You should not worry about not finding the Qibla” said Azleen.
Azleen said that this building will develop economic resources of the country. Also, it will assist the government in maintaining the mosques.
Speaking at the ceremony, Islamic Minister Dr.Ziyad said that it was an initiative of the President to create a waqf fund and it is such an important thing to do in an Islamic country. He said that the President deserves gratitude for it. In addition, Dr.Ziyad thanked former Islamic Minister Dr.Muhammad Shaheem Ali Saeed for his role and instructions in building Dhaarul Eeeman. He also thanked all other people involved in the project in various capacities.
