Airworks Aviation Academy in the Philippines has announced that it will cover all medical expenses for the Maldivian student injured after being struck by an aircraft propeller during pilot training on April 12.
In an official statement, the Academy confirmed it is providing comprehensive support to the student and family, including medical care and rehabilitation assistance, to aid the student's return to normal life. The incident occurred inside the Academy’s hangar.
Following the accident, Airworks voluntarily suspended flight operations for three days, allowing the Philippines Civil Aviation Authority and police to conduct a full inspection of all facilities. The Academy stressed that safety remains its top priority, expressing deep concern over the incident.
Airworks Aviation Academy has a long-standing relationship with the Maldives, having trained many Maldivian pilots now working for international and domestic airlines. The Academy emphasized the important role Maldivian students play within their community.
