Maldives Expo 2025 Opens with Dazzling Display of Local Skills and Culture

The Maldives Expo 2025 has officially opened. The exhibition was inaugurated at a special ceremony held at Central Park in Hulhumale’ on Friday night.
The Maldives Expo is an exhibition organised under the initiative and guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at fostering creativity and innovation, and expanding trade opportunities. This is the largest exhibition held in the Maldives dedicated to the creative sector.
The exhibition is open to the public and features a range of entertainment activities. A fireworks display was the highlight of the opening night.
Following the official launch, President Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajida Mohamed visited the various stalls of the exhibition and engaged with exhibitors.
This year’s expo offers visitors an immersive experience into Maldivian creativity, innovation, entertainment and entrepreneurship. Special areas at the exhibition have been designated as Creative Economic District, Digital and Innovation District, Entertainment District and Marketplace District.
- Creative Economy District: The Creative Economy District reflects the Maldives Creative Economy Strategic Plan, serving as a platform for artists in animation, filmmaking, exhibitions, and workshops that encourage collaboration among diverse creative professionals.
- Digital and Innovative District: The district will showcase the innovative thinking and development of the local people. The district will see the technological creation of local developers, and features demonstrations of AI, digital safety systems, software apps, and advanced engineering prototypes.
- Entertainment District: various activities that the locals have been doing for entertainment and the changes that have come with the times and the various activities related to entertainment is featured in this district. Some activities are conducted live. It shows a dynamic blend of culture and excitement.
- Marketplace District: This is a special district for the marketing and sale of local products. In this district, a business-to-business environment has been established to market and sell local products to domestic and foreign markets, including artisanal goods.
A total of 383 exhibitors from 14 categories and 82 sub-categories are participating in the nine-day exhibition, with handicrafts drawing the highest number of entries. The exhibition will be open to the public from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm every day from 23 to 31 May.
By providing a one-stop platform for showcasing local talent, the government believes the exhibition will serve as a catalyst for sustainable and homegrown innovation.
