Team ‘Baakee’ Champion of Ooredoo Mas Race 2025

The annual fishing competition organized by Ooredoo Maldives in K.Huraa has concluded, with Team Baakee winning.
This is the 16th edition of the Ooredoo Mas Race.
19 teams from the Greater Male' area competed in the race. Baakee won the championship with a total of 544.5 points.
Ooredoo stated the fishing competition is a popular event among the people of Maldives, showcasing the tradition and unity of the Maldivian people.
The champion team received a prize of MVR 25,000. Team Nora came in second with 489.8 points, receiving MVR 10,000.
Team Anantara secured third place with 370 points, earning a cash prize of MVR 5,000.
Special prizes were also awarded during the race.
The heaviest fish was caught by Malaz of Team Anantara, a grouper weighing 20.6 kg.

The best female fisherman was STELCO Kanbalun team’s Ameena. She caught seven fish and won the Ultimate Sea Spirit fishing rod sponsored by Hai Fishing.

The 2025 Ooredoo Mas Race, celebrating Ooredoo Maldives' 20th anniversary, was held in K. Huraa on August 22 and then in Sh. Funadhoo on August 29.
Each event hosts a maximum of 16 teams, with each team consisting of 12 members, including a captain and officials.
The event, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, is a celebration of Maldivian fishing heritage with teams competing for cash prizes and recognition.
