MPL and Youth Ministry Renew MoU to Expand Apprenticeship Opportunities

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts on conducting and expanding apprenticeship programmes has been renewed for another three years.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at MPL head office on Tuesday. The MoU was signed by State Minister Ali Shammaan on behalf of the Ministry, while MPL was represented by its Chief Learning and Development Officer Aishath Shimla.
The main objective of the agreement is to increase opportunities for youth to gain vocational training and work experience in providing national-level education and workforce development. Under the agreement, MPL will continue to conduct national apprenticeship programmes in designated fields.
The Youth Ministry will promote the apprenticeship programme among youth, while also monitoring the progress and quality of the training. Participants who successfully complete the programme will be awarded a National Certificate Level 3 qualification.
MPL has successfully completed 11 batches of the National Apprenticeship Programme in collaboration with the Youth Ministry. The renewal of this partnership marks another step towards providing young people with hands-on work experience and expanding employment opportunities.
