President of MDP’s Religious Council Hafiz Ahmed Zaki has said that President Mohamed Nasheed is making efforts to save Judges of Maldives from hell.
Speaking at a meeting of “You cannot say that” campaign, Zaki said that in addition to working towards the development of the country, President Nasheed is also trying to “save Judges from hell”.
“By the time Gayoom’s government was overthrown, the country was in chaos. There was no justice; one could not even live righteously. Such was the situation when the government changed. Now our leader has to work towards the development of the country as well as towards saving the Judges from hell,” Zaki said.
Zaki cited Prophet Mohamed and said that two out of three types of Judges will end up in hell. President Mohamed Nasheed is trying to save the two types Judges who will go to hell, says Zaki.
“Those who are aware of justice and issue rulings against it, for the purpose of their own benefit, will end up in hell. They have to be saved from hell somehow, perhaps by imprisoning them during their lives. The President has to do this,” Zaki said.
Zaki said that the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed is detained by the military for his own good. He also said that protesters calling for his release are not doing so because they want to help him in anyway.
“Our President is working for the benefit of Judge Abdulla, his family, their future, his children, and even his grandchildren,” Zaki said.
The Supreme Court and High Court of the Maldives have called the military to release the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed. The government has dismissed all orders issued in this regard.
