Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer has stated that the Police will enact all and any measures necessary to ensure peace.
Speaking in the opening ceremony of the Ha. Hoarafushi Police Station, Minister Umar said the work to ensure peace was undertaken at a time when the social fabric of the country was in tatters, at a time when organized crime was at a high and when democracy as painted as a platform for the loudest people.
Minister Umar said the days of protesting against Councils, schools and teachers over minor issues had passed and is no longer acceptable. He also said the days of protesting on the streets over anything and everything was no longer acceptable.
As such, he said the Government will enact all measures necessary to repair the social fabric and justice. Minister Umar added that President Yameen and the current Government will seek to eliminate all barriers to fulfilling this.
Minister Umar said with the establishment of the Service in Hoarafushi, citizens will be assured of the work carried out to bring security. He noted the hard work of the Constituency’s MP Mohamed Ismail, Council members and citizens in making this a reality.
