With the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to hold a protest against the government this evening، the party’s chairperson، Ali Waheed، has shot a warning at the Government.
On a tweet he posted last night، whilst in London، Ali Waheed said that ‘it is time for sanctions’.

Themed “Stop Political Trials”، MDP was set to begin their protest from the Artificial Beach area at 16:30 today.
The protest was announced following the former president Mohamed Nasheed transferred to Maafushi Prison، after he was kept house arrest.
Following the opposition’s “Mayday Protest” on May 1، Ali Waheed was arrested، however، left to London later that month after he was released. He has not returned to Maldives since then.
Though his case was sent for prosecution، the Prosecutor General’s Office has dismissed the case.
