Former President Mohamed Nasheed has sent a letter to the Supreme Court، inquiring if the Prosecutor General has appealed in the court on the former president’s 13 year jail sentence.
Nasheed’s legal team confirmed that they have sent a letter to the Supreme Court and PG Office on the inquiry.
On the letter، the legal team inquired if the Supreme Court has accepted the appeal or not.
Noting that a trail would begin when the court accepts the case، the legal team further highlighted that while PG has said that the appeal has been submitted to the Supreme Court، the court has still not given a confirmation whether the case has been accepted or not.
The legal team also noted that government offices and institutions are stating that the matter is under court process.
PG has said that the appeal has been submitted in Supreme Court as the High Court dismissed the appeal of former president’s 13 year jail sentence filed by the PG in the court.
