"Free Nasheed" motorbike rally to be held in Addu City

A motorcycle rally has been planned to be held at Addu City، calling to release the former president Mohamed Nasheed، who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges.
Addu City youth of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are organizing the rally on October 16th. The rally will begin at 16:00 on Friday، from the ‘Usfasgandu’ of Addu City Feydhoo.
UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has opinionated that former president Nasheed was imprisoned illegally، should be released and paid with compensation for his days spent in prison.
Maldives Government had stated that it cannot accept the opinion of the UNWGAD.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Criminal Court on terrorism charges، for abducting criminal court chief judge، Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
