Visit Maldives plans affordable membership scheme for SMEs

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced plans to introduce more affordable membership options aimed at increasing the participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in tourism promotion.
According to VMC, the new concessionary membership structure is expected to be introduced next year and is designed to make Visit Maldives’ marketing platforms more accessible to a broader range of tourism-related businesses. The initiative seeks to strengthen industry-wide participation and expand the reach of national tourism promotion efforts.
As part of the changes, VMC will also lower participation fees for international roadshows and promotional activities involving resorts, guesthouses, travel agencies and liveaboard operators. The Corporation said the revised fee structure will help ensure that both large-scale operators and SMEs are able to take part in overseas marketing initiatives.
In addition, SMEs will be offered non-physical participation options, including digital showcases, representation services and shared lead-generation support. These measures are intended to allow smaller businesses to engage with international markets without the cost of overseas travel.
VMC further noted that it will support content development across the sector through organised content trips and content-sharing arrangements, helping businesses strengthen their marketing presence and visibility in key source markets.
