Male' City Council has ordered the removal of vessels that have been moored in the Male' fish market area for an extended period without proper maintenance or use.
In an announcement, the council stated that these vessels violate the Male' and Vilimale' Lagoon Management Regulations as they have been left without a responsible caretaker. Complaints have also been received from fishermen who use the lagoon with proper authorization, citing these vessels as a major inconvenience.
The following vessels have been ordered to be removed:
1. Munyia
2. Umeedhu
3. Two unnamed vessels without a registration number
The owners or those responsible for the vessels have been asked to report to the council before Monday and arrange for their removal. They must bring a copy of the vessel's registration, a copy of the owner's ID card, and the ID of the person in charge of the vessel.
If the vessels are not removed within the given timeframe, they will be deemed abandoned and taken to Vilimale' harbour for storage as per the regulations. The council has stated that they will not be responsible for any damages incurred during removal and transportation.
