The police on Tuesday arrested a man for smashing a glass display rack at a café in Male’ City earlier this week.
The incident took place at the Ice Break, a small café located in Iramaa Magu in the Maafannu district of Male’, at around 08:56 am on Sunday.
The police said they arrested Mohamed Razeen, 49, M. Star, K. Male’, under a court warrant on Tuesday.
He was presented before the Criminal Court shortly after his arrest, which remanded him in custody of the police for 15 days.
The incident was caught on CCTV camera at the café. The footage shows Razeen walk into the café while gesturing and speaking angrily to a worker who is standing behind the café’s counter, before suddenly sticking out his leg and kicking the glass display rack in front of the counter. The rack shatters from the impact and he quickly walks out of the café.
The incident is under further investigation by the police.
