Many prominent members of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have been at the Usfasgandu area since this morning. It is known that Nasheed has decided to remain at Usfasgandu until the CNI releases its report which has been scheduled for tomorrow. MDP Spokesperson and Maafannu-north constituency MP Imthiyaz ‘Inthi’ Fahmy confirmed that the former President is at the Usfasgandu area with several members of the party. He added that while some activities of the party are being held at the area, a party’s gathering would also be held today. Inthi stressed that MDP does not wish to incite or create any violence, but pointed out that Police were already setting up barricades around the area. Police had said that they were fully prepared for any potential breakout of violence over the CNI report, while adding that a number of reports had been received that attempts would be made to create violence in Male.
