Second company interested to visit Maldives next month for oil research

Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture، Dr. Mohamed Shainee has said that the second company to show interest in finding oil in the Maldives would be visiting  on 9 September to do a detailed research.
Speaking at a press conference at Velaanaage today، Minister Dr. Shainee said that two companies have shown interest due to evidence of oil in the Maldives.
A UK-based company، Zebra Data Science، interested in the search for oil in the Maldives have visited the country this month and submitted a proposal.
Second company، which is set to arrive next month، is a Norwegian company.
Minister Shainy had stated the project to find oil in the Maldives will be contracted to the best proposal.
The Managing Director of Zebra Data Science said there are high hopes in finding oil in Maldives، however، nothing is 100% guaranteed.
Furthermore، Minister Shainy said the project undertaken to find oil in the Maldives will be done by a driller-boat which will arrive in the Maldives within two to three months، and would carry out the task without harming the environment or the natural formation of the Maldives’ atolls.
In addition، Minister Shainee said the companies interested to find oil in the Maldives are assuring that it is to near 100% that there is oil in the Maldives.
