Former president Mohamed Nasheed، who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison، is the Maldives “Mandela”، says Nasheed’s running mate in 2013 presidential election، Dr. Musthafa Luthfee.
During the opposition’s rally held yesterday calling to free Nasheed، Dr. Musthafa noted that the whole world is saying that the trial of Nasheed was unjust and unlawful. He said that president Yameen’s government ‘should not meddle’ with Nasheed.
“President Nasheed is Maldives Mandela. Do not meddle with him،” Musthafa said.
Furthermore، Musthafa said that the opinion of UN Working Group has build more confidence in MDP’s work to free Nasheed.
In addition، noting that ‘Nasheed should be released’، Musthafa assured that their efforts will not end until Nasheed is freed.
