Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar has stated that he cannot accept or support any coups run by any party, anywhere in the world.
Tweeting regarding the failed coup in Turkey, the Minister voiced his support against coups, adding that he did not encourage the events that deposed former President Mohamed Nasheed in 2012. He stressed that he had no part in the events of the day or support it.
His tweets on February 7, 2012, were made in response to some tweets posted by some of his followers.
