Supreme Court orders the release of all political leaders
Supreme Court of the Maldives have ordered the release of all the political leaders in prison including the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor and the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, who is currently in self-exile. The court order issued from the Supreme Court tonight said that the cases which has political influences due to the different accords the country have taken part of, has to be started over. And so, until a verdict can be reached in those cases again, the political prisoners in the jails must be freed. The Supreme Court ordered the release of the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, former Defence Minister, Mohamed Nazim, President of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb, former Prosecutor General, Muhuthaz Muhsin, Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim, MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Faaris Maumoon, Magistrate at the Maamiligi Court, Ahmed Nihan and Haamid Ismail.
