Mandarin Oriental plans first property in the Maldives

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group International Limited (MOHG), a Hong Kong hotel investment and management group, has announced its plans to manage a private island tourist property in the Maldives.
According to travel news sites, the resort will be situated across three uninhabited islands on Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male' Atoll, which lies about 20 minutes via a speedboat ride from Velana International Airport (VIA).
The private island will offer abodes from 56 overwater villas and another 64 beachfront villas, each room between the size of 200 to 1,000 square meters and each with its private pool.
Other features include three specialty restaurants, a sunset bar, indoor and outdoor event space, tropical gardens, public area swimming pool, 12 spa treatment rooms, vitality pools, sauna and steam rooms, a beauty salon along with tennis courts and a watersports and dive center.
Moreover, the Mandarin Oriental property in the Maldives is expected to open sometime in 2025, while the group's CEO James Riley that Mandarin Oriental is focused "on developing its resort portfolio and has been looking to enter The Maldives for some time."
Mandarin Hotel Group currently operates 36 hotels and 7 residences in over 20 countries and territories with its latest additions including the Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen and Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul.
It is also reported that the hotel group in the next five years, plan to open hotel properties in Beijing, Makati, Nanjing, Phuket, Saigon, Etiler, London, Lucerne, Moscow, Muscat, Riyadh, Tel Aviv, Zurich, Boca Raton, Dallas, Grand Cayman, Honolulu, and Vienna.tra
