JSC appoints Chief Judge of High Court and Chief Magistrate of Family Court

The Judicial Service Commission has appointed individuals to the positions of Chief Judge of the High Court and Chief Magistrate of the Family Court.
The Commission has appointed High Court Judge, Abdulla Jameel Moosa as the Chief Judge of the High Court. Meanwhile, Family Court Magistrate Abdulla Nasheed has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of the Family Court.
Abdulla Jameel Moosa, who has now been appointed as Chief Judge of the High Court, holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law with Honours from Kulliyyathul Dhirasaathul Islamiyya. He was sworn in as a High Court Judge in August last year. Since 19 November last year, he has also been entrusted with overseeing the High Court in an acting capacity.
With over 16 years of service in the judiciary, Abdulla Jameel Moosa has previously served as a judge of the High Court, a judge at the Civil Court, and as a Magistrate at the Dhanbidhoo Magistrate Court in Laamu Atoll.
Abdulla Nasheed, who has been appointed as Chief Magistrate of the Family Court, holds a Master of Law from the Maldives Islamic University as well as a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from Kulliyyathul Dhirasaathul Islamiyya.
Over his career, Abdulla Nasheed has served as a magistrate at Manadhoo Magistrate Court in Moonu Atoll, as Chief Magistrate of that court, as a Chief Magistrate within the judicial district, and as a magistrate of the Criminal Court. In addition, he has also served as a magistrate of the Family Court.
With more than 21 years of service in the judicial sector, Abdulla Nasheed was first appointed as a Family Court Magistrate on 24 March 2016.
