Parliament has approved Dr Mohamed Faisal of G. Dhekenanfaruge to be appointed as the new Maldivian Ambassador accredited to the People’s Republic of China.
The approval was granted with 70 votes in favour, none against and 4 abstentions, at the parliament sitting today.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom sent Dr. Faisal’s name for parliament approval in early July, and the National Security Committee of the Parliament approved the nomination on 6 August.
Dr Mohamed Faisal recently completed his doctorate on Developmental Studies at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
