Nexbis files case to court, to declare parliament does not have jurisdiction to order termination of contract

Nexbis Malaysia has submitted a case to court requesting to declare that the parliament does not have the jurisdiction to order the government to terminate the agreement regarding the border control system.
Lawyer representing Nexbis Ismail Wisham said today that the case was filed at the Civil Court last Tuesday. He also said that the court has also been requested to issue an order to the government to delay execution of the parliament decision until the case is resolved in court.
Wisham said that including the case filed yesterday, the company currently has six cases in the courts, which include four cases at the Civil Court, one at the High Court and another at the Supreme Court.
The report regarding the decision to order the government to terminate the agreement was put together by Parliament Public Accounts Committee. It was passed by the Parliament on Tuesday with a unanimous vote of 74 members present. The government had decided to terminate the agreement following the parliament decision and is currently working on the legal matters regarding the termination of the contract.
