Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam has held discussions with Australia’s Special Envoy for the Indian Ocean, Tim Watts, on strengthening trade cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was held during Watts’ visit to the Maldives as a special guest of the Maldivian government for the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations.
During the bilateral meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further enhance the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and Australia, including cooperation in maritime security, climate resilience, education, trade and tourism.
Foreign Minister Iruthisham expressed appreciation for Australia’s continued support and assistance to the Maldives, while reaffirming the commitment to further advance shared priorities and strengthen bilateral ties.
