Legal team requests home detention for Nasheed to ‘avoid any harm to him’

The legal team of former President Mohamed Nasheed had requested Home Ministry by a letter to change President Nasheed from Police custody to home detention، to avoid any harm to him during police supervision.
The letter sent to the Home Ministry was signed by Nasheed’s lawyer Hassan Latheef، addressed to Home Minister Umar Naseer.
The legal team requested the authorities to change Nasheed from Dhoonidhoo detention centre to home detention at his private residence، claiming that he is being harmed and manhandled disrespectfully by the Police.
Nasheed had stated during the remand hearing on Monday that he was injured when the Police officers pushed  him to the ground during the escort to the court.
However، Police denied his statement، saying that ‘Nasheed fell to the ground on his own’، and he was unharmed.
