Veterans Football Tournament is set to commence tomorrow evening with a total of six teams participating in the event.
This year’s Veterans Cup will see the likes of Valencia، Victory، Maziya، BG، Malé Veterans as well as the most recent Veteran Cup champions Soccer Veterans Association of Maldives (SVAM) taking part in the tournament.
The matches will be held at Malé turf-football ground area، with tomorrow’s kick-off game played against BG Sports Club and Malé Veterans Club. While the next game، set on Friday will see long time rivals Victory Sports Club and Valencia going against each other.
Held every Ramadan، the Veterans Cup acts on league policies. Hence semifinals contenders will be teams with the highest accumulated points from the league.
Veterans Cup is aimed at former local football legends، who have crossed the football retirement age of 35، with teams consisting of players above the age of 40. Each team will have 5 members aged above 35، while the maximum number of the said age-group players present on field of each game is set at 3.
The tournament is a joint-initiative of Soccer Veterans Association and Football Association of Maldives.
