Japan Bank for International Cooperation guarantees support to Maldives

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has guaranteed its support for Maldives development, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
The Foreign Minister met with the bank’s Governor Tadashi Maeda in Tokyo on Friday while being accompanied by Minister of Finance His Excellency Ibrahim Ameer, and the Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail.
The Maldives delegation briefed the Governor on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s economic agenda, while reiterating Maldives’ commitment to establish sustainable and environmentally friendly policies and allow for greater economic diversification. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation on Maldives’ development.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Shahid visited the Embassy of Maldives in Japan and toured an eco-friendly waste management plant in Shinagawa. The delegation also met with executives of Hitachi and NEC and discussed areas of collaboration.
