The Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission has urged the media to report responsibly on the ongoing Middle East war.
A statement issued by the commission advised media outlets to be extra cautious when relaying information to the public due to the sensitive situation. It said reporting should protect national security and public safety, and that information from sources must be presented accurately without distorting the intended meaning.
The commission also advised against using manipulated or fake images, audio, or videos to incite hate. Journalists were reminded to act responsibly and uphold their professional duties.
The warning comes amid concerns that false information and unreliable sources are being used by some outlets.
