The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has signed an agreement with the Housing Development (HDC) to develop a modern nursery in Hulhumale’ to support the government’s ambitious plan to plant five million trees.
The agreement was signed by the Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and HDC’s Managing Director Mohamed Mauroof Jameel at a ceremony held on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, HDC will be responsible for designing and constructing the nursery on a designated 55,000 sqft plot of land. When completed, the nursery will include training rooms, an office section, a laboratory and a greenhouse.
The nursery will serve as a key site to cultivate the trees required for the government’s tree plantation programme.
