Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has criticised President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, accusing him of promoting an unattainable vision and governing through unrealistic promises.
Speaking at a rally held by Yameen’s People’s National Front (PNF) on Sunday night, Yameen said President Muizzu speaks of an intangible development, and urged him to speak of realistic and attainable realities. He called out the President and said there are several inconsistencies in his statements.
Referring to the government's efforts to digitise the country, Yameen said it was more important to solve the problem of bankruptcy and improve the credit rating of the country. He said there is no solution to the current economic crisis simply by digitising the country. Therefore, instead of selling dreams, he asked President Muizzu to do things related to real development.
President Yameen added that he would continue to talk about President Muizzu’s shortcomings. While President Muizzu keeps assuring that he would deliver on his promises, no effort is being made to fulfill it, he said.
“President Muizzu is now making excuses,” Yameen said.
