President emphasises the need to prioritise educational empowerment

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, speaking today on the occasion of World Education Day, said that recognising the importance of empowering individuals with education is crucial.
Speaking on the occasion's theme for this year "AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation", the president said it is also important to maintain the essence of being human at a time when artificial intelligence has created opportunities for the education system.
Dr. Muizzu added that in such an era, it is essential to combine art and education. The purpose is to incorporate high quality e-learning facilities, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, into the education system to brighten the prospects of a geographically spread island nation like Maldives, for future generations, he said.
Noting that the country’s education system is incorporating digital technology in the curriculum by digitising textbooks and a competency-based hybrid learning model, the President said it was vital for the country to ignite young minds with the help of “STEM” education.
The President assured that he would ensure that the infants of this country receive good quality education which would enrich their minds, encourage ideas and creativity while also enabling them to keep a foothold in a changing world.
