Distribution of tuna cases in Male’ expected to wrap up on Mon

The Local Government Ministry is working on finishing up the distribution of tuna cases for Ramadan in the greater Male’ area by the end of Monday.
Distribution of tuna cases – a gift by the government for Ramadan – began on February 20. The shortage of distribution centers opened in the populous Male’ for the task created long queues – with people forced to wait in line for hours to collect the tuna cases. The Local Government Ministry later increased the number of distribution centers and began issuing online tokens following criticism.
In a post on X on Wednesday night, Local Government Minister Adam Shareef Umar said that the ministry’s goal is to fishing the distribution of tuna cases in the capital by the end of Monday.
He added that tuna cases will reach GA. Atoll and GDh. Atoll sometime Thursday – which would complete the nation-wide supply of the Ramadan gift.

The distribution of tuna cases in the greater Male’ area is currently being carried out between 09:30 pm and 11:30 pm. Tokens can be booked online via the Roadha Hadhiya portal.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had announced the decision to distribute tuna cases to Maldivian citizens as a Ramadan gift in November last year – during a ceremony held to mark his administration’s one-year anniversary.
In Ramadan last year, the government provided discounts on utility bills and distributed 1.6 million kilos of food staples to 82,000 households.
President Muizzu has announced discounts on utilities this year as well.
