Fourth year anniversary of China-Maldives Friendship Bridge

The Sinamale' Bridge spanning 1.39 km in length connects Male', Hulhule' and Hulhumale'.
The bridge which opened to the public on August 30, 2008, has changed the lives of many, providing convenience to everyday commutes in addition to opening new business avenues.
Prior to the bridge being built, residents and tourists had to take a 30-minute ferry-ride from Male' to Hulhumale' which are only 10 km apart, which has now been transformed into a short 10-minute journey across the bridge.
Hulhumale' has become a destination for thousands of people to travel out of the congested environment of Male' City.
This mega project symbolizes the bilateral relations between Maldives and China bringing with it significant economic progress in the past four years.

The presidential Pledge of former President Abdullah Yameen was brought to fruition by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), by working 24 hours a day continuously for four years.
Although many bridge projects around the world have been easily completed, CCCC faced substantial challenges in realizing the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge. However, the hard work put in to complete the bridge is a testament to the close friendship of both countries.
