Prosecutor General Muhthaz Muhsin has stated that the former President Mohamed Nasheed who is imprisoned for 13 years for proven terrorism charges، still has the opportunity to appeal his verdict.
Prosecutor General made the statement while speaking at a Program on Sung TV.
Speaking at the program، PG stated that the doors are still open for Nasheed to appeal his verdict.
The appeal duration of Nasheed’s verdict has been due. However، if the verdict was not appealed due to a valid reason، the verdict can be appealed to the Court after the appeal duration is due.
In a news conference held by the legal team of Nasheed، the lawyers stated that President Nasheed wants the PG to appeal his verdict in the High Court. However، in the usual routine of appeal، the state does not appeal the verdict’s which are issued in favor of the state.
