Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that investments should not be used a political tool by the government.
Speaking on a program aired by RajjeTV, former President Nasheed said that tourist resorts generate an income for the people and the government should not cause any damages to resort investments due to political differences.
“The government has no right to take back the investments of Gasim Ibrahim or other than him. These are not just mere investments of a particular person. These are investments which are generating income for the whole nation,” he said.
Nasheed said that no resorts should be closed down because the resort owner does not support the government.
He said that MDP will stand against such oppression and advocate for the rights of the people.
Nasheed said that the present administration does not want any others to prosper in their businesses. He said that if they arrest Gasim they will be harassing some other investor.
