China has started supplying water to assis Maldives to solve water shortage in Male’, the Capital Island of Maldives

The Government of China fully understands the severity of the water crisis in Male due to the fire breakout in Male Water and Sewage Company, and has been actively engaged with the Government of Maldives immediately after the crisis.
The Government of China is making all necessary preparation to alleviate the current problem for the people of Maldives:
1. Starting from today, all the commercial flights flying out from China to Male will be loaded with drinking water as much as the flights can take. The first batch has already arrived this morning with 15 tons of bottled water, with more batches to come today and tomorrow.
2. Two Chinese Air Force aircrafts have also taken off from China carrying 40 tons of bottled water and are due to arrive this afternoon.
3. In the meantime, a Chinese PLA Navy Ship with RO facility is already on its full speed to Male and will provide drinking water to the people in Male upon arrival.
4. More assistance are now being coordinated among all relevant government organizations in China and will be finalized soon.
The Chinese side values its traditional friendship and partnership with Maldives and will do all it can to assist the Maldivian people in this difficult time.
