Government seeks interested party to project master plan for new commercial harbor

Maldives government has announced seeking interested parties to create and develop the master plan for an international commercial harbor set at Male’ neighboring industrial island Thilafushi.
The project by Maldives government aims to completely shift the existing commercial harbor in Maldives capital along with its operations to the industrial island; and upgrade the entire operation to an international standard.
Ministry of Finance announced seeking for interested consultancy firms to submit their tender documentary along with blueprints for the master plan and design for the commercial harbor.
The ministry has conditioned exclusivity for internationally recognized consultancy firms to present their proposals. Ministry had added, in their announcement, for international firms to present their expression of interest based on the government mandated terms of reference.
Interested consultancy firms that meet the requirement are requested to send in their letters before February 28 which is the deadline.
Maldives president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the official works of shifting commercial harbor to Thilafushi will commence sometime in 2019, while adding the commercial harbor capacity needs upgrade and expansion.
