Laamu Corporative Society releases fertilizer to market

Laamu Farmers Corporative Society released the first batch of 100 percent organic tree fertilizers it produces to the market this Sunday.
The product, branded “Inba” is produced Laamu Farmers Corporative Society based in L. Fonadhoo.
The product was released to the market in a function held at Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture by Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee.
Laamu Farmers Corporative Society was registered on July 29, 2016.
Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture reports the organization has been provided with machinery and vehicles to collect waste and produce the fertilizer.
It reports that waste is collected from 385 households, 27 companies and 10 government agencies, and that production is carried out by 251 members of the organization.
“Inba” fertilizer packs come in two sizes; two kilo packets and five kilo packets.
Laamu Farmers reports its products will be delivered to Male’ City and anywhere in L. Atoll upon order. It’s also working on opening shops in L. Isdhoo and L. Fonadhoo to distribute the product.
Total eight corporative societies have been established across the country as part of Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture’s Fisheries and Agricultural Diversification Program.
They are:

• Addu Meedhoo Corporative • Funaadu Development Corporative Society
• Vaadhoo Farmers Corporative Society
• Gemanafushi Corporate Society
• Magoodhoo Corporative Society
• Naifaru Corporative Society
• Bizvil Maldives Corporate Society (Hoarafushi)
“Inba” fertilizers are available from shops in Male’ City and other islands, as well as from MEGA Maldives.
