The Maldives and China signed 11 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) today in Beijing during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
According to the President’s Office, the agreements cover key sectors including human resource development, economic growth, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
Among the MOUs is an agreement to establish a Fisheries and Maritime Logistics Hub in Addu City, along with a partnership involving the National Skills Development Authority.
The President’s Office stated that these agreements aim to enhance bilateral ties and foster sustainable development between the two nations.
This is President Muizzu’s second visit to China since taking office. His first visit in January last year resulted in the signing of 20 MOUs and significantly strengthened Maldives-China relations. During his current trip, which began last Friday, President Muizzu also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders.
