President assures Feeali land reclamation project will resume soon

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to resuming the land reclamation project in F. Feeali, announcing that work will commence without delay once the shipment of rock boulders is delivered.
The President confirmed that 15 hectares of land will be reclaimed, fulfilling a pledge made during his presidential campaign. He further noted that reclamation efforts on other islands, previously stalled due to a shortage of rock boulders, will also recommence upon the delivery of new consignments. He assured that the shipment designated for Feeali is expected soon.
During a discussion held at Faafu Atoll Madharusa, President Dr Muizzu engaged with the community on the island’s developmental prospects and residents’ daily livelihood concerns.
Key issues raised by residents included the need to restart stalled projects and ensure the timely completion of new initiatives in a coordinated and uninterrupted manner. Representatives also highlighted operational challenges at the Feeali Ice Plant, stressing the importance of sustainable management and effective solutions.
Acknowledging that many of the issues raised by the public have already been initiated or are currently under way, President Dr Muizzu reiterated the Government’s determination to take all necessary measures to address them comprehensively.
As part of the President’s current tour, agreements were formalised today for the upgrading of Feeali Harbour, as well as the construction of a jetty, a mosque, and a futsal ground. The day also marked the groundbreaking ceremony for the Feeali Police Station and the official inauguration of Bank of Maldives ATM services on the island.
