Addu FENAKA: Three former staff to be prosecuted for misappropriating petty cash

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Maldives has sent a request to prosecute three former employees of FENAKA company for misusing petty cash allocated to the company's sites.
The three individuals were identified as former deputy director of FENAKA's projects department, Ahmed Sathish Saeed, former senior engineer of FENAKA's projects department Mohamed Asid, and former supervisor at FENAKA, Hussain Asir.
The ACC said the three men had used the petty cash issued by FENAKA to Addu City's Hithadhoo Central Power Station project, for their own personal uses, which is in violation of the company's petty cash management rules.
Based on the findings, ACC sought charges of asking to commit an offence under Article 81, conspiracy to commit an offence under Article 82, abuse of power to provide or obtain an illicit benefit under Article 513, and embezzlement of public property and funds under Article 516 of the Penal Code.
ACC also said that FENAKA was notified to recover the MVR 623,208 they had misappropriated.
The commission also said the accused are believed to have committed acts of forgery, which would be lodged with Maldives Police Service as well.
