Amal Clooney، the member of former president Mohamed Nasheed’s international lawyers team، has arrived in Maafushi Prison this afternoon to meet with Nasheed.
Along with Amal، Nasheed’s lawyers Hisaan Hussain and Hassan Latheef have also arrived Maafushi Prison.
Nasheed’s Office informs that Amal and Jared arrived in Maldives to hold meetings with former President Nasheed’s lawyers and heads of the government، about the 13 year jail sentence on Nasheed on terror charges. Their trip is also in relation with the presentation of President Nasheed’s sentencing issue to U.N’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
According to Nasheed’s Office، Amal Clooney and Jared Genser will be working in Maldives until the 10th of this month.
They have now requested to meet with the government and head officials.
President’s Office said that Attorney General Uz. Mohamed Anil will be meeting with the international lawyers team of Nasheed.
