Former President of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed has said that due to the current political situation in Maldives، he has no option but to work from abroad if he wants to return to the Maldives.
According to a statement made on Nasheed’s website، President Yameen is arresting all the oppostion political leaders. Nasheed’s lawyers have said that the United Kingdom has given refugee status to Nasheed. The government of Maldives have expressed concerns regarding this.
Nasheed was allowed to travel abroad to seek medical treatment on 18th January 2016. Even though، Nasheed’s lawyers have said that Nasheed has been given political refugee status. so far no official remarks have been made by the British government.
