Police release boat and crew in 'hit-and-run' sea accident

The boat, named Kumeri, and its crew were apprehended by the police Friday evening while they were at the Hulhumale harbour. A police spokesperson said Saturday that they have been released later on Friday night after the interrogation. But he declined to reveal exactly how many people were arrested. The boat and its crew were detained on the basis of a 'hit-and-run' sea accident with the supply boat, named 3A 28, travelling off the coast of Alif Dhaal atoll Dhigurah. There were 12 people aboard the supply boat when it sank; eight men, two women, a five-year-old and a three-year-old toddler.
